We will miss you Steve Jobs

I’m sure by now you have heard the news that the world lost Steve Jobs yesterday. Even if you are not an Apple user, his vision has touched your life and you might not even know it. If you have not seen this address he made at Stanford University in 2005, you must:  http://www.ted.com/talks/steve_jobs_how_to_live_before_you_die.html

NOV/DEC Issue

The NOV/DEC issue is heading to the printer this week, and it’s packed with great ‘how to’ articles by some authors you might know: Steve Anchell, Tillman Crane, A.D. Coleman, and some you will enjoy meeting: Cort Anderson, Benjamin Edwards, Brad Templeton, Tom Persinger, Joseph Holmes…The technique is back in photo technique!

Living here in the NY Metro area, the anniversary of 9/11 brings up many emotions for me.  There were many photographers who documented the aftermath. I just want to remind everyone about the A&E special, co produced by our SEPT/OCT Page 48 contributor, FEMA Photographer Andrea Booher, it’s a documentary for A&E featuring her photographs from after 9/11. It will air on A&E Sept. 10, 2011 http://realscreen.com/2011/08/16/ae-marks-911-anniversary-with-portraits-from-ground-zero.

Portraits of Love Project

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! PMDA has just announced its call to action for professional photographers nationwide to join the third annual Portraits of Love Project. The Portraits of Love Project is coordinated yearly by the PhotoImaging Manufacturers & Distributors Association (PMDA) and offers families of deployed military personnel free portraits for the holiday season. Portraits of Love offers professional photographers and portrait studios an opportunity to use their talents and resources to show their appreciation for our military personnel serving abroad. This year’s effort will open to the public on October 1st and run through the end of December. Interested photographers can register to participate online at http://www.pmdaportraitsoflove.com/photographers.php between September 1 and October 1, 2011.

Sept/Oct issue is on the newsstand

The SEPT/OCT issue is at a newsstand near you- if it’s not let me know where your local newsstand is and I’ll do everything I can to get copies there. This image was made at a Barnes and Noble near where cover photographer Peter Tellone lives. You can read his blog at http://petertellone.com/
